Thomas J. Bowen of Sherwood died at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock
on Tuesday at the age of 80.
Bowen was born in Calhoun County on October 19, 1928. He was a
member of Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood and was a retired
railroad clerk for Missouri Pacific. He was an active member of the
Rock Island Club and was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie
and Emma Evans Bowen, six sisters, Gladys Misenheimer, Ollie
Strickland, Beatrice Strickland, Ila Mae Strickland, Myrtle Craig
and Mamie Manning; two brothers, Charles Junior Bowen and A.J.
Bowen.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Bowen of Sherwood; two sons,
David Bowen of Hampton and Allen Bowen of Sherwood; one daughter,
Tammy Roberson of North Little Rock; one sister, Florene Taylor of
Benton; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be at Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood tomorrow
morning at 10 o'clock with funeral services following at 11:00. Rev.
Robert Harris and Rev. Freddy Bowen will be officiating. Graveside
services will be at Means Cemetery near Hampton tomorrow afternoon
at 3 o'clock with arrangements by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made
to Victory Baptist School in Sherwood or Arkansas Hospice in Little
Rock.
