10/14/08 School Board Holds October Meeting |

The Fordyce School Board elected new officers during their October meeting held last night. Don Harris was elected president of the school board, new board member Deborah Mathews was selected at vice president and Tom Wynne was elected secretary. Silas Warner was elected as the board's Disbursing Officer. During last night's meeting, the board received a family's request for a legal transfer to the Bearden School District. <Voice of Superintendent Pam Blake> The board approved the request on a unanimous vote. They also received a couple of out of state travel requests for district staff members. <Voice of Blake> Board member Robin Wynne asked if teachers would have to be taken out of the classroom in order to attend the events. <Voice of Wynne> Board president Don Harris requested that those attending the seminars report back to the board. <Voice of Harris> After a short recess for an executive session, the board returned and voted to terminate a cafeteria worker. <Voice of Blake, Board> No reason for the termination was discussed in public. |
